1. High-Resolution Inverted Optical Microscope
2. High-Resolution Stereo Optical Microscope
High-Resolution Inverted Optical Microscope: The system allows the capture and analysis of the microstructure of metallic and non-metallic specimens. The images can be captured and stored at different magnifications such as 50x, 100x, 500x and 1000x. The software allows the analysis of phases, grains, and particle sizes as per the ASTM standards.
The system allows the capture and analysis of the surfaces of metallic and non-metallic specimens. The images can be captured and stored at different zoom range intervals of 0.62, 0.8, 1.0, 1.25, 1.6, 2.0, 2.5, 3.2, 4.0, 5.0. The continuous magnification range is 6.2x to 50x. The software allows the capture and analysis of the joints/ weld beads.
The system allows metallographic specimen preparation by mounting the specimens in resin, which is later hot pressed to solidify. The clean and dry specimen is placed in a mounting cylinder in the hot mounting press, and the appropriate mounting resin is added. A temperature of around 150-180° C and a force of a maximum of 5 bar can be applied during the embedding of the specimen. Moulded specimens are easy to polish and provide smooth edges.
The system allows high-energy grinding, mechanical alloying, mixing, homogenizing, and colloidal grinding of soft, hard, medium-hard, extremely hard, brittle, ductile, and fibrous materials. Materials that can be processed range from minerals, metals, metal alloys, ceramic materials, oxides, magnetic and non-magnetic materials, and polymers. The system further allows the making of metal alloys using the mechanical alloying method and reaction milling. More specifically, this is the best device for the synthesis of non-equilibrium compositions, which are not feasible otherwise by thermodynamics using the molten route. Both dry and wet grinding are possible under a controlled atmosphere. The system allows the preparation of metal powder mixtures, which can be used for various applications, including but not limited to additive manufacturing.
