In Situ IR Probes

ReactIR™ Mid-infrared attenuated total reflectance (ATR) technology offers numerous advantages over alternative analytical methods. Researchers and scientists improve chemical development today by leveraging these advantages, including:

  • Immersible probes for direct insertion into reaction vessel for in situ, continuous, real-time reaction measurements
  • No extractive sampling required, providing the ability to measure chemistry in its natural environment
  • Impervious to bubbles or solids, making it ideal for hydrogenations or any heterogeneous reactions
  • Suitable for aqueous chemistry (optimized path-length to suppress overlap of strong water absorptions vs measurement of key reaction components)
  • Non-destructive technique, preserving the integrity of the chemical reaction
  • Adheres to Beer-Lambert law, enabling both qualitative and quantitative measurements

  • What we Can Do with this In Situ IR Probes
  • Probes designed to operate from low to high temperature, low to high pressure, under acidic, basic, caustic, oxidizing and aqueous conditions enable the analysis of virtually any type of chemistry.
  • Pressure: Vacuum to 69bar
  • Temperature: -80 oC to 180 oC
  • pH: 1 to 14
  • N.B: Do not use concentrated acid and solid samples.
  • ReactIR is optimized for use in the fingerprint region – giving a system with the best sensitivity in the region with the best molecular information
  • ReactIR can be used to prove what happens in the plant is what you observed in the lab
  • Specifically designed to take time resolved spectra and convert them into reaction profiles, iC IR™ answers the key questions – when does it start, when does it stop, do I have an intermediate, what are the kinetics?

CEM Corporation Discoverer SP (Microwave Synthesizer)

Microwave synthesizer is a premier microwave reactor for performing any organic or inorganic synthetic chemistry. Featuring a best-in-class 10 mL single-mode microwave cavity, 15-150 mL open vessel reactor, and intuitive software with a 10" touchscreen interface, it is possible to program a reaction in seconds and achieve the best synthetic yield in minutes.

Features :

• Widest pressurized vessel sizes for a single-mode microwave – 10 mL
• Open vessel reaction mode – 15-150 mL
• IR Temperature Sensor that sees through glass and Teflon® (iWave®)
• Vent and reseal technology for safe handling of over-pressurization (ActiVent)
• Variable speed magnetic stirring and rapid compressed air cooling
• Upgrade options: Autosamplers - 12/48 positions; Gaseous Addition, Sub-ambient temperature, Flow cells

300 W Xenon Arc Lamp Source

  • 300 W Xenon lamp is a plug-and-play type bench-top light source that provides a high intensity illumination. The Xenon arc lamp mounted inside the lamp housing can transmit a light with a wavelength from 250-2200 nm region. The equipment can also be used as a visible-light illuminator by choosing the 420 nm cut-off filter which will block the UV light. This lamp is useful for any kind of photochemical conversion, provided that the sample must have a light-harvesting component or a photosensitizer tagged in it. Nanostructured materials with ca. 1.8-3.2 eV band gap can be a suitable photosensitizer and may be chosen for different important reactions like photochemical water splitting, CO2 reduction and/or organic transformations. Any kind of light-mediated physical and chemical transformation can be performed by using this light source.

    Specification of the equipment:
    1. Highly stabilized 300 Watt Ozone free Xe arc lamp source
    2. Light Orientation – Horizontal
    3. Preferably a solution (homogeneous) and/or dispersion (heterogeneous) of a material can be placed near the lamp (approx. 10-15 cm) to illuminate.
    4. The lamp and the sample holder would be placed in a dark cabinet to avoid the interference of external light source of the lab.
    5. Illumination time to be set according to the requirement.
