The Flow Cytometry BD FACSAria-III is the high quality, multi-parameter flow cytometry analyses and sorting instrument. The Facility is capable of cell sorting and analysis (sterile, at speeds up to 50,000 cells/sec) from homogeneous or mixed cell populations based on up to 14 fluorochromes, sorting up to four separate populations simultaneously and cell sorters can also sort any number of cells into each well of a 6, 24, 48, 96, or 384-well plate. Any suspended particle or cell from 0.5–70 micrometres in size is suitable for sorting and analysis. Cells from solid tissue must be disaggregated into single cell suspension before analysis/sorting.

The safety of the staff and users of the facility is the ultimate concern when sorting unfixed samples containing unscreened human or nonhuman primate cells, known infectious agents (≥ risk group 2), or recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules or vectors. Therefore, information about the sample source and potentially bio hazardous agents is critical for effective biosafety risk assessment.
Appropriate biosafety approval by the IITD and the core facility is required prior to the use of the machines.
Please provide this Sort/Analysis Sample Request Form to the FACS Core upon scheduling a sort. This form must be filled out completely and signed by the principal investigator for each sort requested, even for analysis. Without the proper risk assessment enabled by this questionnaire and supporting information, bookings will NOT be approved.
